A greenwich dinner party

Last weekend, I returned to a long-time event clients home and set the table for a 40th birthday dinner, served family style, with a loose Marie Antoinette theme. I have to say, I love the way clients challenge my creativity by pitching a loose concept my way and trusting where I’ll take it.

We wound up with a menu that began with a Fairchild’s Fromage cheese board full of the best small batch, seasonal flavors that Greenwich Cheese Shop had to offer. From there, we moved on to a salad of chicories, arugula, roasted maitake mushrooms, lardon, and an egg yolk Dijon vinaigrette. The main course was chicken supremes (special ordered from Old Greenwich Butcher Shop – thanks guys!), with spring peas, tarragon, and a reduced chicken broth jus, accompanied by a gorgeous, baked and then sautéed tarragon bread pudding that I forgot to get a photo of. Capped off with basque cheesecake atop a raspberry rose sauce, the meal felt decadent but not heavy, luxurious but not pretentious.

Dinner parties are always the space I feel the most creatively focused - I’m excited to take many more on this summer!
